Where it all began...

I wish I could say that I came into the world with a camera in hand and dreams of being a photographer from the get-go, but let me tell you, being a 90's kid was quite different. Back then, smartphones were just a dream; we had trusty Nokia 3310s to play Snake on or, let’s be honest, use as makeshift hammers!

They often tell you that school years are the most crucial ones in your life, and that your future career hinges on those six years. But honestly, I couldn’t even decide what to have for dinner some days, let alone figure out what I wanted to do for the rest of my life!

I finished school with decent grades but no clear direction, so I found myself working in retail for a bit. One day, I thought, “Why not give this digital media course a go?” It felt like a nice way to pass the time, and who knows – maybe I’d find my true calling there. I kept on this path all the way to University, earning a degree in Computer Animation. You’d think I was all set for a career in that field – but, funnily enough, it was miles away from wedding photography!

I ended up landing a graphic design role and was happily on my way until, as we all know, COVID came crashing in like a ton of bricks, and like many others, I was laid off. I quickly jumped into the first job I could find as a delivery driver for my local supermarket. It gave me a chance to rethink my priorities in life, which turned out to be a blessing, especially when my wife and I welcomed our beautiful daughter in 2021!

Speaking of my wife… that’s really where the magic began! We tied the knot in October 2024, and experiencing the joy of that day had me thinking – working in the wedding industry would be such a fulfilling path! With my creative background and a desire for more family time, I really wanted to create the same wonderful experience for others that I had on my big day. That’s how Neill McGlynn Photography came to life!
